Philip Ewald, known as “Lucky,” is an 18-year-old Danish CS:GO player who had been playing as an AWP player for Tricked Esports since January 2021. Previously, he had played for low-tier teams.

After Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz left Astralis in April 2021, Astralis had been playing without any proper AWP player in the lineup, and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen was taking over the AWP role temporarily.

During this period, Astralis had a rough time in the tournaments, even in the first LAN event we saw in a year, IEM Cologne 2021. Furthermore, the in-game leader of the team, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, also mentioned that they couldn’t be the best team if they don’t have any AWP players.

Following the results, Astralis decided to sign a new AWP player to the roster, and they wanted to try out their luck with such talented player, Philip “Lucky” Ewald. However, Astralis didn’t remove any player from the roster yet.

This also means that Astralis could return to their six-man roster once again as Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen could be the potential player for the substitute, who frequently swapped with Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth in between the maps earlier.

“I know some people are going to compare me to ‘dev1ce’ but no one can do what he does,” Lucky said. “I hope I’ll be able to show who I am, though, and I will work hard to contribute to the team in my own way.”

Astralis is now:

  • Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen
  • Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander
  • Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen
  • Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth
  • Emil “Magisk” Reif
  • Philip “Lucky” Ewald

Furthermore, Astralis revealed that Lucky will be joining the team on August 1, and the team will be meeting after the player break on August 9. Also, both Tricked and Astralis agreed to not reveal the value of the move.
