Johannes Wodarz, known as “tabseN,” is a 26-year-old German CS:GO player who has been representing BIG Clan for over four years. Previously, he had played for NRG Esports, PENTA sports, and more.

tabseN spoke in a recenet interview with the Esports Kingdom before their debut match in IEM Cologne 2021, which is the first LAN event they will be playing in more than a year, and explained how they can be on top once again.

As you might recall, BIG started to perform better after the additions of Florian “syrsoN” Rische and Nils “k1to” Gruhne in January 2021, and they become the best team in the world six months later.

They did not only impressed the world by winning lots of tournaments, but they also managed to clean sweep in best-of-five matches at DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Europe and cs_summit 6 Online: Europe.

Unfortunately for the German side, they have been underperforming since Spring 2020 and trying to find their way to get back to the top once again. With the start of 2021, they showed some promising results in the tournaments.

In the conversation, tabseN revealed the way how they can stand among the best teams in the world and touched upon the importance of having an individually better performance and building confidence inside the team.

According to tabseN, being on the same page is one of the key factors of being successful. Additionally, tabseN mentioned that they are on the right way to figure out their problems and perform better.

Grady Hooker asked:

“You guys about middle of last year reached that coveted number one spot and since then you’ve fallen down a little bit in the rankings. What do you think that as a team you guys need to do to get back to that number one spot?”

tabseN replied:

“From my perspective, I would say we all need to play individual-wise better, but of course we also need to find the right path again as a team, being on the same page is really important. Also getting the results and getting the confidence back in within the team. I think we are on the right way and we are all of course doing everything we can to achieve these kinds of things.”

Later in the conversation, tabseN also talked about the schedule problems that CS:GO players have been experiencing for the past few years and pointed out how it makes teams to underperform in some situations by saying that it is hard to maintain energy.
