Jeong Ji-hoon, known as “Chovy,” is a 20-year-old South Korean League Of Legends player who had been representing Hanwha Life Esports for around a year. Previously, he was playing for DRX and Griffin.

Chovy and HLE managed to qualify for the 2021 League Of Legends World Championship, and they pass to playoffs from the play-in stage. However, their journey was cut short after getting eliminated in the quarterfinals after facing T1.

Even after having such success, Hanwha Life Esports announced on their official Twitter account that Chovy will be leaving the organization and becomes a free agent as well as their bot laner Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu.

Chovy is one of the best mid laners in the world right now, and becoming a free agent made him one of the most wanted players in the world. However, the talented mid laner didn’t make any announcement about his future yet.

Previously, Chovy also become a free agent and North American organization Evil Geniuses made an offer for the mid laner. Therefore, there might be new offers for Chovy from the western teams. Nevertheless, Chovy decided to stay in Korea last time, and he might continue staying in LCK for a while.

Here’s the official announcement from HLE:

“Our contract with ‘Chovy’ Jung ji-hun and ‘Deft’ Kim Hyunk-gyu has expired today. We thank them for their passion and dedication over the past time with the team and we respect their decision.”
