28 year old pro player Peter “ptr” Gurney tweeted about Vertigo on 4 May. ptr said that the map is not good for competitive matches. Also NRG player Tarik “Tarik” Celik, Mythic player Fl0m and Caster/analyst OnFireMoses also agreed with ptr.

ptr tweeted:

“I think vertigo is actually trash… don’t @ me”

Tarik replied:

“I agree tbh, I think it’s far from being ready for competitive. Let’s see what happens tho”

Fl0m said:

“It’s not going to be good for a while. Overpass only had one entrance into the bomb site and monster had 2. Have to play it to create real feedback brother.”

ptr replied:

“I play it all the time. Hints why my feedback is that it is trash.”

Fl0m:

“It ain’t going anywhere. I think it’s totally different not saying good or bad. But even if u played it for 10 times a day since it’s been out. None of us even know half the shit we can do yet. Mirage was still being innovated for so long.”

OnFireMoses added:

“mirage started out in 2004 as de_cpl_strike and had a vent from t mid (chair) to a bombsite (sandwhich). new maps in comp get tweaked to hell map isn’t that good now but it’s a unique playstyle and i hope it goes somewhere cool. super important that we learn to tweak new maps”
