Martin Larsson, known as “Rekkles,” is a 24-year-old Swedish League Of Legends player who had been playing under Fnatic jersey for over five years. In his career, he earned over $440.000 from the tournaments.

Yesterday, Fnatic released a new article on their official website and announced the departure of Rekkles while clearing the air about this decision.

In the post, Fnatic mentioned that they have offered one of the biggest contracts to Rekkles, and he even preferred to stay in the team earlier this year. However, Rekkles decided to leave the roster in the player break and informed the organization.

Here is the official announcement from Fnatic:

“In the last few hours, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has informed us of his decision to sign for another team in this offseason period.

After months of discussions, this marks the culmination of negotiations towards his new contract, and the end of his 8 years and almost 600 games in the black and orange.

For transparency into the process, Martin had previously indicated his preference to stay and re-sign earlier this year, and after the largest offer Fnatic has ever made to a player – including a long-term plan for his future after his playing career – Martin has made the decision to move on. This decision was not based on financial gain.”

They continued:

“Now we turn to a new chapter for Fnatic, and one we’re ready and excited to commence. Our time with Martin has been long and successful, we could not be more proud of what he has achieved in the Black and Orange.

But as has happened multiple times in our 16 year history, now is a time for change. We’re excited for our new era as one of the world’s most successful League of Legends teams, and we’re excited to bring our fans with us on the journey. Full information of our plans for the years ahead will be released in the coming days.

The next time we meet, we meet as opponents. See you on the rift, Martin.”
