Fnatic Parts Ways With Golden To Start A New Page

Fnatic is a Swedish esports organization who dominated the scene back in the days. Also, they were one of the best teams in the world who competed in the top-tier since their entrance to the CS:GO scene.
However, they had been struggling since the departure of Markus “pronax” Wallsten and Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson, even though they tried out lots of talented players and in-game leaders.
In four years, Fnatic has only managed to win Intel Extreme Masters XII – World Championship in 2018, World Electronic Sports Games 2017, and DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019 as big events.
Therefore, the organization decided to re-add their former players Robin “flusha” Rönnquist and Maikil “Golden” Kunda Selim following their promising performance in late 2019, such as winning the DreamHack event mentioned above.
Although everybody hoped that Fnatic would return back to its old glory, the roster struggled to perform. Especially after the online era, the team was eliminated in the early stages of the big tournaments such as Flashpoint and ESL Pro League.
Because of that, the organization decided to add fresh bloods, Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson and Peppe “Peppzor” Borak, to make things better as they parted ways with the veteran player flusha who decided to be an in-game leader with his own roster.
But, things didn’t go well for Fnatic even after the changes. Yesterday, the organization announced that they benched Maikil “Golden” Kunda Selim from the active roster and said that they are looking to rebuild the roster.
“Maikil is certainly the friendliest and best teammate in the scene, but the recent results have not lived up to the standards we expect from the team,” Fnatic’s head coach Samuelsson said. “That’s why we’re looking to turn the page and begin our rebuild with new in-game leadership.”
Here is the official announcement from Fnatic:
“CSGO update: as part of our ongoing changes, Golden has been moved to the inactive roster. Thank you for everything Maikil. We will be announcing additional changes to Fnatic CSGO soon.”
