David Prins, known as “Davidp,” is a 26-year-old Belgian former CS:GO player who had been playing under G2 Esports jersey for their Valorant roster since July 2020, and he earned $20.000 in this period.

Even though G2 Esports had almost a perfect year in 2020 by winning every high-tier tournament besides First Strike, they decided to bench Davidp, and Davidp explained the reason behind it via Twitter.

In the post, Davidp stated that there is no bad blood between him and the organization and wished luck for his former teammates. Also, Davidp mentioned that he had become the in-game leader of the roster but said that they wanted to play with a proper in-game leader, and that’s why they are parting ways with him.

Here is the official announcement from G2 Esports:

“After a successful five months of competition for our Valorant roster, we have decided that changes will be made heading into 2021. Effective immediately, David “Davidp” Prins will be moved to the bench.”

Davidp said:

“It brings tears to my eyes to tell you that, from today, I will no longer play with G2. I’ve met lots of great people since I joined G2 in July and I appreciated playing with all of them. This includes Oscar, Jacob, Patryk, Ardis, all the staff from G2, the content team, people working in the offices, Carlos and of course Maik who is the best manager I’ve ever had.

They are all great people and I truly respect all of them. This experience helped me in my career. I honestly feel that I have grown as a person and as a player during this adventure. I had a great time with the team. We won all of the Ignition Series in Europe (7/7) and I’ll never forget that.”

He added:

“I’ll always remember the victorious and crazy moments that we shared together. Sometimes you have to say good bye to people you like. That’s life, you can’t do anything about it.

The team needs a proper IGL and I respect their choice. I’ve done everything I could to make it work with them. I tried to be the IGL because we didn’t had one and to play all possible agents to suit the team.

I have nothing against them at all just to aware people that wanna create dramas or whatever it is, I totally understand their decision and I wish them all the best for the future, I am sure we’ll face each others on the servers really soon.”
