G2 Esports CS:GO Player Niko About His Departure From FaZe Clan: “I Had No Options”

Nikola Kovac, known as “Niko,” is a 23-year-old Bosnian CS:GO player who has been playing under G2 Esports jersey for over three months. Previously, he was playing for FaZe Clan.
Niko is picked as fourth-best player of 2020 by hltv.org, and he spoke in an interview with them to talk about how 2020 went for him in both FaZe Clan and G2 Esports.
In the conversation, Niko admitted that the situation inside the team wasn’t great after Olofmeister decided to leave and said that they couldn’t get the in-game leader they wanted in the summer break. Later on, FaZe agreed with Kjaerbye.
After the addition of Kjearbye, FaZe Clan couldn’t perform well in the next two tournaments and Niko felt that he can not keep doing what he is doing with FaZe Clan and said that it is going nowhere.
After realizing that the situation is came to a deadend, Niko stated that he had no options left besides leaving the team even though he always tried to fix the problems inside the team and that’s why he left FaZe Clan.
Here is what Niko said:
“After olof left, it wasn’t pretty in the team. We never really got the player that we wanted, so it wasn’t easy to deal with all the things. During the summer break, we couldn’t get the IGL we wanted, and there was one more change that we wanted to make that we couldn’t.
After that, I was like, ‘If we start doing badly with Kjaerbye, I don’t know what else we can do’. After we got Kjaerbye, we had those two events that really made me decide to leave the team. After ESL One Cologne and EPL, I was really mentally destroyed.
I was like, ‘There is no way that I can keep going like this and that we can keep dealing with things this way. It’s going nowhere.’
He continued:
“Before that, I always tried to fix things or get the player that would fit the team, but I really had no options. That’s when I decided to leave the team. Right after EPL, I felt that there was no point in going on.
I had wanted to play with huNter- for a long time, and this felt like the right time for us to team up and work together. I’m happy that we managed to do it.”
