Nemanja “nexa” Isaković is a 24-year-old Serbian CS:GO player who has been playing under G2 Esports jersey for over two years. Before that, he was playing for CR4ZY, Valiance, and many more.

In late 2020, G2 Esports signed Nikola “NiKo” Kovač from FaZe Clan to create a team to stay at the top. However, the team couldn’t perform in the tournaments for some reason, even though they had the perfect lineup for it.

Therefore, the organization decided to bench the talented AWP player Kenny “kennyS” Schrub as they brought back Audric “JaCkz” Jug to the roster. At first, NiKo took the AWP role in the time.

After a short period, the AWP started to switch from player to player, then François “AmaNEk” Delaunay take over the role in the roster. Even though he performs decently, the community criticized G2 for not having a pure AWP player.

nexa spoke in a recent interview with hltv.org and talked about AmaNEk and his AWP performance so far, as well as explaining why G2 Esports can’t play around the AWP players in general.

In the conversation, nexa pointed out that AmaNEk plays the AWP like a support player because he doesn’t feel comfortable playing in an aggressive style such as Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev.

Furthermore, the Serbian in-game leader mentioned that they have Kovac’s that they already need to play around, so playing around the AWP players along with these players wouldn’t be as much as effective right now for the team.

While nexa was praising the hard work and talent of AmaNEk, he also stated that he would like to give AmaNEk more space if he wants to unleash the superstar AWP player to dominate games in the future.

nexa on AmaNEk’s AWPing:

“As you know from before, our track record with the AWP has not been the greatest. Once we got AmaNEk, he understands the role, but he plays it more as a support player, which I think is of his own choice because he doesn’t yet feel comfortable being a star AWPer making all of the crazy plays and doing what you see s1mple or ZywOo do.

He’s not there yet, but I know he’s working hard and I’ve seen glimpses of what he’s capable of doing and we’re trying to go in a direction in which we give him space to shine more and have more responsibility.

The way our team is structured and any team is structured is that you have two players that you play around and the other guys are the side characters, just supporting and doing their job. For us, it’s very difficult to play around the AWPer since we already have the two Kovač guys and we try to play around them and give them the most space.”

He continued in the interview:

“As we progress, I’d personally like to give AmaNEk more space and have him be our star AWPer if he’s up to the task, but it’s something we’ll see with time. Then again, it’s also not only my choice, me and maLeK have to make these decisions together and see what the best course of action for the team and the future is.

But all of the other teams around us have a top-tier AWPer who is really carrying games by himself a lot of the times, which is something we’ve been missing for quite some time.

If AmaNEk can grind it out and find this inner crazy player in himself and become one of these superstars, I think we’ll all be for giving him every resource he needs to actually shine and carry the team.”

Later in the conversation, nexa also talked about why they have a strong CT side by revealing how a great rotate players both AmaNEk and NiKo are and said that their communication makes them play better.
