Niclas “Pengu” Mouritzen is a 22-year-old Danish Rainbow Six Siege player who has been representing G2 Esports for over two years. In his career, he earned over $300.000 from the tournaments.

As you might recall, Ubisoft announced the rework of the lord himself, Tachanka, during the Six Invitational tournament. In the review, we saw that Tachanka’s Mounted LMG is becoming his primary weapon, and also he has a grenade launcher as his gadget.

Yesterday, Ubisoft revealed the full details of Tachanka rework, and he has also withstand ability, which allows you to self-revive like Zofia, alongside with these changes. However, it seems like Pengu didn’t like this rework at all.

Pengu took to his official Twitter account to criticize the approach from Ubisoft and explained why Tachanka is overpowered for the competitive play.

In the post, Pengu mentioned that Tachkanka himself is not such a strong operator alone, but the problem is playing him with the other operators who already has so much utility in their kit.

Pengu stated that Tachanka will be overpowered due to the utilities he has for the high-level of gameplay and additionally, he criticized the withstand feature that Ubisoft added for no reason.

Here is what Pengu wrote:

“I wanna clarify the Tachanka situation. I don’t think Tachanka is gonna be picked that much in ranked, similarly to Goyo/Wamai/Kaid. However, that will not mean that he is weak. Tachanka alone, might actually not be that strong. The issue lies in the combination with other operators.

Tachanka as an operator has always had a lot of pride and meme value in the community, and it seems that because of this, he is also “valued” too highly when reworked. Unique weapon/deny gadget & self revive? Where does the self revive come in from and where is the logic?

Doc can do it, Finka should be able to do it if anything. Sofia can do it because she is a very strong mother? (fair enough, lore is lore, ill take it) Tachanka can do it because he is Tachanka? it has nothing to do with anything, it’s just more on more.”

He continued:

“The concern for Tachanka is not the operator himself, but what he stems from. it is a very common trend that operators get released on test servers in far too strong states. Kaid/Wamai/Goyo/Zero just to name a few, were all too strong on the test server.

It’s not uncommon for this to be the standard, but the issue is that it’s very clear that they are massively overtuned in how many gadgets counts they have. Zero 4 cams? Kaid 3 claws? Goyo 3 shields? In my opinion, they shouldn’t even be on the test server in that state, it’s obvious.

The last problem is that we have test server + quarantine period totaling roughly 4 months (3-4 week TTS) + 1 Pro League season. But rarely if ever do the operators actually get balanced in this period, typically they need a whole season in pro play (6 months) before nerf.”

Pengu added:

“This is where the frustration from Tachanka is coming from. It’s another overtuned overpowered operator. How on earth do you release him on the test server with 10 molotovs? Is it not blatantly obvious that is too much? Give him 5, work the way up or down, it’s much better in my opinion.

The only thing you will get is ‘overpowered, too strong, too much,’ and the feedback won’t be even remotely accessible, you won’t be able to differ where the breaking point is, because he is so far past it. Just look at Melusi. It’s the best example in recent years.

If you make Tachanka you need to look at what he can do in combination with other operators if you want to add 100 ops total. The solution should not be to add more bans until we can ban all the overtuned/oppressive operators, they should get changed/fixed.”
