Maikil Kunda Selim, known as “Golden,” is a 27-year-old Swedish CS:GO player who has been representing Fnatic for over three years. Previously, he played for Cloud9 and Fnatic as well.

Even though Fnatic is one of the biggest organizations in the Counter-Strike scene and they had a great roster, the Swedish team had been struggling to perform in the last two years. Therefore, the organization wanted to make a change in July.

As Fnatic benched Golden as well as Jesper “JW” Wecksell, they announced that Fnatic will go international. Following the statement, they announced the additions of Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and William “mezii” Merriman.

During a recent interview with hltv.org, Golden talked about why they had been underperforming, sharing his opinion about the current roster, and many more.

In the conversation, Golden pointed out that it is a good thing to see Fnatic going international but touched upon the fact that building chemistry could be hard. However, he thinks that it wouldn’t be a huge problem for them because there are three Swedes and two Englishman on the team.

Golden on Fnatic’s new roster:

“I think it’s good that they move into a more broad pool to find more players to bring in. So yeah, I think it is good that they went international, but I also believe that it could be hard on team chemistry.

I don’t think it’ll affect the current fnatic guys because they are three Swedes and two Englishmen, so I think it’ll go well in terms of chemistry and communication, they’re not a team with players from many different countries. I still feel like they have some of the Swedish thing going on…”

Further in the conversation, Golden mentioned that he wants to get back to the server as soon as possible and stated that he will create his own team if he can not find any organization to play with.
