Back in 2017, there was a bug that makes coach cameras stuck in someplace and stay in that position during the match. With this bug, the coaches could be able to watch the enemies and gain unfair advantages. This year, this bug has returned to the game again and lots of the people

After the investigations from the ESL admins who reviewed over 1500 demos, ESL decided to ban some of the coaches in the top tier teams like MIBR’s Ricardo “dead” Sinigaglia, Heroic’s Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen, and Hard Legion’s Aleksandr “MechanoGun” Bogatiryev, because of using this exploit for their advantages.

In the article, ESL mentioned that HUNDEN used the bug in ten rounds of a single map and he banned for one year. Dead banned for six months for using the bug in just one round, and MechanoGun banned for two years due to using the bug in three matches on six maps.

As you might remember, Heroic recently win the European part of the ESL One Cologne, which is an achievement that nobody expected. Due to these allegations, this victory might be one of the controversial ones in the Counter-Strike history even though HUNDEN used the exploit during the DreamHack Masters Spring tournament.

Later on, Heroic announced on their official website that they started an investigation about the situation and they will reply to the answer for a further date. Right now, they stayed silent for all claims.

Here is the official statement from the ESL:

“After closely analyzing all matches from ESL and DreamHack competitions which took place in the past months, and consulting with Valve in the process to solidify our findings, we have identified the following coaches to have knowingly misused the bug for a competitive advantage in live tournaments

Hard Legion, MechanoGunat ESL One Road to Rio on 6 maps in 3 matches,

Heroic, HUNDEN at DreamHack Masters Spring in 10 rounds on 1 map,

MIBR, dead at ESL One Road to Rio in 1 round on 1 map.”

They continued:

“Based on the findings and our rulebooks, the following ruling is made after consultation with ESIC:

dead will receive a 6-month ban from playing or coaching in competition

HUNDENwill receive a 12-month ban from playing or coaching in competition

MechanoGunwill receive a 24-month ban from playing or coaching in competition…”

Here is the statement of Heroic:

“Heroic has been made aware of ESL and Dreamhack collectively issuing a 12-month ban, due to Nicolai “Hunden” Petersen using a visual exploit during a few rounds earlier this year during the Dreamhack Masters Malmö tournament.

The information has also been forwarded to ESIC and Valve, where the latter has chosen not to act on it.

As we are yet to review the evidence in this matter we currently have no comments. An internal investigation was started today, at 21.32, when we received the notification from Dreamhack representative Mark Winther.

All questions will be answered at a later point.”
