Nicolai Petersen, known as “HUNDEN,” is a 30-year-old Danish CS:GO coach who has been working for Heroic since April 2020, recently after retiring as a player under MAD Lions jersey.

Earlier this month, it was rumored that Astralis might part ways with their long-time coach, Danny “zonic” Sørensen, and add HUNDEN as their new coach. However, there was no confirmation from neither sides.

Even though Astralis announced the contract extension with Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander as well as the addition of Philip “Lucky” Ewald, they didn’t make any statement about the future of the roster.

Yesterday, HUNDEN announced on his official Twitter account that he won’t be extending his contract with Heroic because he wishes to begin a new chapter in his career, which means that he will leave the organization when his contract expires.

This announcement might also confirm the rumors between HUNDEN and Astralis, and it is more likely to see HUNDEN as the new coach of Astralis instead of zonic after the player break. Unfortunately, Astralis and HUNDEN refused to talk about the roster move.

Here is the official announcement from HUNDEN:

“What Heroic and I have achieved through the last 15 months has been amazing. Heroic has become an integrated part of the top tier teams in international Counter-Strike and has won multiple trophies in 2020 and 2021.

I feel incredibly happy about the adventure I have had with cadiaN, stavn, TeSeS, bOrup, Niko, Sjuush and Refrezh and everything we have accomplished together, both professionally and privately.

In the past few months, I have been in negotiations with Heroic about a contract renewal, but I have come to the realization that I wish to begin a new chapter of my career once my contract with Heroic expires.

Heroic and I have been a perfect match, but the recent turn of events is deeply regrettable. Because I care deeply about the players, I have always had a desire and interest in our journey together having the best possible ending and in Heroic having all prerequisites of continuing to do well, when I leave.”
