Swedish organization Ninjas In Pyjamas stunned the community with the addition of legendary player Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz through the end of April 2021, who was dominating the scene with Astralis before the online era.

In their first tournament at Flashpoint 3, Ninjas had shown some great results even though we could see the problems of being a new team. They passed through Anonymo Esports and FunPlus Phoenix, but lost against G2 Esports.

Then, Ninjas pursue their way to the finals from the lower bracket and beat BIG, Heroic, and G2 Esports. Unfortunately, they lost the finals against Mousesports with 2-1, but they impressed the community with their performances.

However, 17-year-old trial player Erik “ztr” Gustafsson couldn’t really show his true talent, although he had some amazing performances against Gambit Esports and Anonymo Esports. Therefore, the organization decided to sign him for their academy roster, Young Ninjas.

“Understandable decision was made for me to go back to the Young ninjas in order to further develop myself individually,” ztr said. “Still very thankful for the oppurtunity I got to play with the main team for such a long time, will do everything in my power to get back to the top.”

Furthermore, the Swedish organization decided to promote young prodigy Linus “LNZ” Holtäng, who was playing tremendously in Young Ninjas since February, to the main roster for IEM Summer 2021.
