Peter Gurney, known as “ptr,” is a 31-year-old American CS:GO player who had played for teams like Complexity Gaming, NRG Esports, and more. Most recently, he was playing for Bad News Bears.

ptr took his official Twitter account to share a new post yesterday and announced his retirement from the CS:GO scene.

While ptr was thanking everybody who supported his career in Counter-Strike, he also mentioned that he has learned lots of things during this period. Afterward, ptr revealed that he will work hard on the next game that he will be competing in.

Even though ptr didn’t announce which game he is going to switch, it is most likely to be Valorant, which is the game that most of the CS:GO players switched in a year especially in the United States.

After ptr shared his retirement statement, the players in the scene such as Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski , and Tarik “tarik” Celik also sent their support to the veteran player and wished him luck on his next journey.

ptr announced his retirement with these words:

“I’d like to announce that today I’m retiring from CSGO. It’s been a long journey full of great experiences and many hardships. I wanna thank everyone who has supported me through out the years. I’ll be focusing full time on poker and working hard to further my game. DPP out.”
