Samu Kauppinen, known as “Sambty” is a 24-year-old Finnish PUBG player who had been representing Team Liquid since January 2018. Before that, he was playing for Tempo Storm. In his career, he earned over $220.000 from the events including the PUBG Global Invitational 2018 Europe.

On 6 December, he announced his free agency.

Sambty said:

“I am officially free agent now, my contract is expiring soon so I will be looking at other options for 2020. i would like to thank team liquid and my team mates for the best 2 years of my life! I have been 2 years in Team Liquid soon and we have had such a great history as a team, a lot of tournament wins and top 3 placements! I have nothing but good to say about the team and would like to thank Jeemzz, ibiza, Jembty and 7Teen for this time together! at this point we are not only team mates but close friends also and wish them all the best in the future! This was mutual agreement inside the team, me and the team wanted to make changes.”

He continued:

“I would like to thank the best of the best organization in the world Team Liquid for supporting me and the team so much during these 2 years. Every time we asked something like boot camp, merch or anything we always got it, that was part of the reason to our success that we never had to worry about these things ourselves. And all of the Team Liquid staff we met in LA was super nice aswell! This makes it even harder to depart because Team Liquid is such a amazing organization. Last but not least I would like to thank all of my and Team Liquid fans for support the past 2 years, it means so much! I am so sorry that we disappointed you with our PGC results, but even still after such a bad performance fans never stopped supporting us, love you all! This is not the end, I will be looking for a new team to play with next year and I am ready to grind pubg.”

Sambty added:

“For my Chinese fans: After PGC when I started learning chinese and streaming more on huya I havent have that much fun in a long time! I want to continue my interaction with Chinese fans and will make sure to work with Liquid, Huya and my new org to keep streaming in China. I love all of you and remember I will always be dao mei Xiong for you guys and that will never change!”
