Chien Mao-An, known as “Maoan,” is an 18-year-old Taiwanese League Of Legends player who has been playing for Beyond Gaming since March 2021. Previously, he was representing Berjaya Dragons.

Recently, Beyond Gaming managed to reverse sweep TCL champion Galatarasaray Esports in the semifinals of the play-in stage, and now facing Hanwha Life Esports to qualify for the Worlds groups stage.

However, Riot Games announced yesterday that Maoan is suspended from the rest of the tournament due to violation of Rule 9.3 of the 2021 World Championship Ruleset, which is referring to the gambling associations.

Furthermore, it was revealed that Maoan leaked the inside information about Beyond Gaming to a friend for the wagering on Galatasaray Esports matches, and he will receive additional penalties in the future.

Beyond Gaming didn’t announce who will be playing instead of Maoan, but there is only Hsieh “PK” Yu-Ting remains as a substitute within the roster, which is most likely the one who will be playing.

Here is the official announcement from Riot Games:

“During the 2021 World Championship, Maoan violated Rule 9.3 of the 2021 World Championship Ruleset, which prohibits association with gambling. Competitive integrity is the foundation for our sport and we take all violations of our ruleset extremely seriously.

The Competitive Operations team obtained definitive evidence showing Maoan provided inside information to a friend for the purposes of wagering on today’s match. Maoan will be suspended for the remainder of the 2021 World Championship, and may be subject to additional penalties following a full investigation.”
