Schalke 04 Esports Announces League Of Legends Roster Changes – Gilius Leaves, Kirei Joins

Schalke 04 Esports has made an insane amount of progress in LEC Winter 2021, and they were standing in the fourth place in the group stage. In the playoffs, the roster shined as they lost to G2 Esports with 3-2.

In the lower bracket, Schalke showed off their power by beating Fnatic with a clean sweep. Unfortunatly, they lost against the finalist Rogue in the second match of the losers’ bracket and become the fourth-best team in Europe over Fnatic.

Even though Schalke had a great split, they decided to part ways with Felix “Abbedagge” Braun, who joined 100 Thieves. Afterward, they promoted their academy mid laner Ilias “Nuclearint” Bizriken.

Yesterday, Schalke made another unexpected roster changes and announced that they decided to bench their jungle player who played pretty solid throughout the whole split, Erberk “Gilius” Demir. Afterward, they welcomed their new jungler Thomas “Kirei” Yuen.

In the announcement, the managing director of Schalke 04 Esports, Tim Reichert, mentioned that they were looking for a new jungler in the next split, and they tried out Kirei. During the practices, they realized that their mid-jungle duo having lots of synergies together. Therefore, the organization, staff members, and players agreed on continuing with Kirei.

Who Is Kirei?

Thomas “Kirei” Yuen is a 24-year-old Dutch player who has been playing League Of Legends professionally since 2015. However, he started to make a name for himself by playing at the Turkish Championship League in 2018.

Kirei firstly joined Dark Passage in TCL and played really well in the TCL Summer 2018. However, they coudln’t make it to the finals. In the next season, Kirei joined 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports.

In the TCL Winter 2019, he helped his team to finish the group stage on top. In the playoffs, Kirei had an amazing time and he got the MVP award as 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports win the trophy over SuperMassive.

After having such a performance, Kirei tried out his luck in Mid Season Invitational, but the Turkish organization couldn’t deliver. Afterward, Kirei decided to join the academy roster of Misfits Gaming, and then, he joined GamersOrigin.

Here is what Kirei said after joining Schalke:
