The first LAN and international tournament in the history of Valorant, VCT Masters Reykjavík, held in the last week, and the tournaments end with the supremacy of North American organization Sentinels.

Sentinels’ performance started to rise with the addition of 20-year-old prodigy Tyson “TenZ” Ngo who loaned from Cloud9 in March 2021. Before that, they were having consistency problems in the tournaments.

However, they start to smash the North American scene since the addition of TenZ. Sentinels reached out the finals of every tournament they attended, and they lost only VCT 2021: North America Stage 1 Challengers 2 against Team Envy.

As Sentinels pursue the biggest event in the Valorant scene, VCT Masters Reykjavík, they were one of the favorites teams alongside Team Liquid and Fnatic. But, the North American teams were underappreciated.

Even though Sentinels wasn’t really the best team for lots of people, they started to turn heads at the start of the tournament. They faced Fnatic in their debut and beat the European team with a clean sweep.

Then, the North American roster reached out to the finals without losing any single map points. They eliminated Team Vikings and the Korean organization NUTURN Gaming on their way to the finals.

In the finals, Sentinels faced Fnatic once again who were seeking their revenge. The match was as close as their first encounter. But yet, Sentinels managed to close up every map and won the trophy with a clean sweep.

As Sentinels becomes the best team in the world, TenZ proved his talent by having the best kill/death ratio in the tournament as well as having the best average combat score. Also, their captain Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan also performed incredibly throughout the tournament and had the third-best kill/death ratio.
