Valorant esports created during the coronavirus pandemic, and there were no international events since then until VCT Masters Reykjavík. Because of that, people have been spectating many games in different regions to compare each other.

One of the biggest conclusions that people have made was simplifying the way that North American teams have been playing, just because they are picking more aggressive agents instead of utility-based ones compared to the European teams.

However, the North American team, Sentinels, proved to everybody that these inferences are wrong during the VCT Masters Reykjavík. They have won every match they played without losing a single map and become the champions of the tournament.

Sentinels won against European roster Team Liquid in the finals of Reykjavík.

After taking a time off from the tournaments, Sentinels in-game leader Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan spoke in a recent interview with and compared the playstyles of North American and European teams.

In the conversation, ShahZam mentioned that European teams are actually playing similar to the North American teams and declined the claims about North American teams are playing more individually.

“I think that it’s impossible to say what NA versus EU could’ve looked like before the teams actually played against each other,” ShahZam said about the speculations between NA and Europe. “Lots of people were speculating and pushing narratives like ‘NA is more individual, EU is more tactical’ – but I can definitely confirm that as wrong.”

“They actually play really similar to NA and I don’t think it’s definitive to say which region is better just yet. But NA is definitely one of the strongest regions, but EU is also up there. There’s still a lot more to see.”

Furthermore, ShahZam also talked about their newest member, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, and said that he felt like a family member instead of a stand-in earlier. Afterward, he praised his teammate by saying that TenZ is the best player in the world.
