Back in LCS Spring 2021, Team Liquid had one of the teams alongside Cloud9 that seemed pretty great in the regular season. They were considered as one of the contenders for the trophy, which happened at the end of the season.

Unfortunately, their 24-year-old jungler Lucas “Santorin” Larsen had been experiencing health issues such as intense migraine problems, and he couldn’t play for his team during the playoffs of the Spring split.

When the LCS Summer 2021 started, Santorin was the starting member of Team Liquid. Everybody taught that he recovered what he had been facing during the LCS Spring Playoffs. However, Santorin announced that he takes a medical leave due to the same health problems.

“I am sad to say that I have decided to take a break for at least this week,” Santorin announced. “I am still dealing with a lot of the same health issues that I had during spring, primarily headaches and pressure in my head throughout the day, and we are still trying to figure out what’s really going on.”

Team Liquid’s academy jungler Jonathan “Armao” Armao will be standing in for Santorin once again as he did during the LCS Spring Playoffs, and Santorin wished luck for his teammates for the upcoming matches.

“The biggest thing I want to make sure doesn’t happen again is forcing my team into a similar situation to what happened in spring, where I had to miss out on the most important games, and the team not having a lot of time to play with Armao. This way I feel like the team can have some time to build up synergy with Armao and I get to rest and come back healthier and stronger.”

Furthermore, Team Liquid also announced that they decided to part ways with their head coach of their League Of Legends roster Joshua “Jatt” Leesman, who joined the team in May 2020, and promoted Jonas “Kold” Andersen as Interim Head Coach.

Here is the official announcement from Team Liquid:

“Jatt has resigned his position as head coach and departed Team Liquid, effective immediately. In his place, Kold has been promoted to interim head coach, with H4xDefender serving as the assistant coach for LCS…

Separately, Santorin continues to experience debilitating symptoms, which may be related to health issues he’s dealt with in the past. Santorin has decided to take some time away from competing to properly rest and visit specialists to determine the cause of these issues, to prevent them from potentially worsening.

We support Santorin in his decision and will continue to provide the medical resources we can to help diagnose and treat his symptoms. We’ll continue monitoring Santorin’s health condition until he and his doctor are comfortable with him returning to play.”
